Synopsis - In an unexplored quadrant the Enterprise finds the Defiant, a ship which is starting to drift into a parallel dimension. When beaming a landing party back from the Defiant, Kirk becomes trapped when it "disappears". When Spock misses his only chance at retrieving the Captain, a memorial service is held for him, while crew members are becoming stricken with space madness.
