Synopsis - While visiting a once peaceful planet, Spock suffers a nearly fatal gunshot wound and Kirk suffers a deadly bite from a Mugatu but is saved by a friend he knew with the hill people from a previous visit. As it turns out, the valley people are being supplied with guns from the Klingons.
A Private Little War is perhaps most well known for the large bear-like creature it features, called a "Mugatu". The episode presents an interesting perspective as we see Kirk actually supplying weapons to an underadvanced people, to even the balance of power, when he learns of his Tyree's enemies being supplied by the Klingons. Tyree's reluctance to accept the weapons, until his wife is compromised, is also interesting; showing an inherent tendancy toward peaceful ways.
