alance Of Terror is an intricate episode that deals with prejudice head on throughout a pretense of war. This episode gives us our first look at Romulans; who bear a striking resemblence to Vulcans, like Mr. Spock. Spock's theory that Romulans are an offshoot of Vulcans would be later confirmed in the Next Generation 2-part episode Unification, in which Leonard Nimoy would reprise his role as Ambassador Spock. More on the prejudice angle, the audience can note, through the similarities in command styles between Kirk and the Romulan Commander, that though they're a different race, Romulans aren't that different form humans. This was the first Trek role for actor Mark Lenard who would return to play Spock's father Sarek in the mid-second season episode "Journey To Babel"; the animated episode "Yesteryear;" the films The Search For Spock, The Voyage Home & The Undiscovered Country and the Next Generation episodes "Sarek" & "Unification I."
